GENERAL TIPS
Regularly vacuum your floor covering with a suction-only vacuum (disable the beater bar)
Clean spills immediately – do not rub the stains, blot them lightly with a cloth
After cleaning, use a dry cloth to absorb any moisture or leftover cleaning product
Occasional professional cleaning is recommended
SHEDDING
Shedding is not a defect but a natural phenomenon – all carpets & rugs tend to lose fibres. The amount of shedding varies and is largely based on the rug material & quality, rug construction and rug age.
SPROUTING
Sprouting is when a tuft of yarn rises above the rugs surface. Pulling the sprout can often damage the rug and should be avoided. Sprouts can easily be cut with a pair of scissors.
CURLING
Curling is usually of two types:
The rug edges can curl under and refuse to lay flat. The rug must be given time to relax – reverse rolling can often speed this process.
When rugs are placed under heavy furniture, rugs can get stretched or wrinkled. This is usually because the rug’s foundation has been stretched. Unfortunately, this cannot be reversed.
INSECT DAMAGE
Pets, food, and plants can introduce insects into rugs which can eat natural fibres such as wool. Regular cleaning is the best way to avoid insect infestation.
FADDING
Fading is a natural process which leads to the mellowing of colors with time. It is accelerated when the rug is exposed to sunlight for long periods and can be reduced by avoiding direct, strong sunlight.
